Your input is important as we seek ways to improve the business climate. Some of our goals and objectives include:
Providing an opportunity for networking among business owners...
... PABA meets monthly, alternating lunch & evening meetings. Time is allotted for networking and member introductions at the beginning of each meeting. Members can volunteer for the "Business Spotlight," which is an opportunity for them to talk in more detail about their business.
... Business people want to work with like-minded business people they know and trust. As a result, many members have already reaped the benefit of added business as a result of networking and comraderie within the group.
Providing an opportunity to work together to market our businesses to the community...
... The Annual December "Community Carol Fest" is a free event open to the entire community. PABA, along with PACC and area service groups, work together on this entertaining evening of music, fun and refreshments as a way to say "Thank You" for supporting our businesses, churches and service groups throughout the year. Businesses can donate give-aways filled with promotional items; service groups and the churches are invited to display information.
..."Community Days" held in conjunction with the Palmyra Library's Annual Booksale provides businesses with the opportunity to take advantage of the added traffic visiting the area.
...The September "PalmyaFEST" is an all-day community event, organized by PABA, offering a morning flea market and art show, and a variety of concessions and games, bingo and music. ... Many of our events include paid advertising and, when appropriate, take advantage of free press.
Creating a strong business association is attractive to businesses looking to locate in the area...
... The strength of PABA membership has created recognition of an environment ripe for new business. Businesses want to locate in a vibrant, friendly locale and residential growth makes the greater Palmyra area a terrific place to locate. The support and knowledge of PABA members is a valuable asset to the entire membership and community.
A strong association can affect change in the community and have input into the look and future of our community...
... PABA members volunteer to act as liasions with the townships and borough by attending meetings and reporting back to the group. The townships and borough also send their own representatives to the PABA business meetings. PABA works closely with the governing bodies; maintaining open lines of communication and a strong relationship conducive to the sharing of ideas, input, resources and projects.
Avenues exist for an organized association to solicit, search and apply for monies for community and business improvement projects...
... PABA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit which increases the availability of project resources.
... PABA's Special Projects Committee and subcommittees are also working on applications for grant monies and acceptance into the highly-successful PA Downtown Revitalization program.
